You'd think it has an automobile finish

This is a very stunning piece of luggage, almost sci-fi in appearance thanks to the polycarbonate/ABS material and glossy paint finish. It just looks incredible.Despite having a hard shell case, it is relatively light weight. The side zippers look very solid. I have no doubt that this will provide excellent protection for your personal contents.The Winfield 3 Piece Set has many of the things you expect from a piece of luggage in this price range. All the wheels are multi-directional, which makes for one less hassle at the airport. It has the standard extending handle (shown in the main product picture) to wheel the luggage around with. It also has a soft grip on the top and side for easy carrying. There is a standard 3-digit combination lock with built-in keyed entry for TSA inspection.The larger two units have a zipper that can be used to increase the depth of the suitcase, as needed. This offers the extra bit of flexibility that you need to pack those extra items into a hard shell suitcase.The interiors are as described by Amazon. They are fully fined with fabric. One half of the interior in an open area with elastic cross straps which you can use to hold your items in place. One half of the interior shell is entirely made up of a zipper-enclosed area which you can use to further divide or secure your items. Or you may leave it unzipped and open like a conventional suitcase.I have some concerns about this luggage that only time are going to answer. The finish is so beautiful, but I have to wonder if it won't almost be a magnet for malicious baggage handlers. I don't see it responding very well to scratches (much like a car finish). While the wheels feel pretty secure, they really do stick out. I can see one of them taking a good hit and flying right off, never to be seen again.It does have a ten year warranty, but it excludes so many things, such as: water, abrasion, exposure to extreme temperatures, normal wear and tear, transport damage, etc. They knew that warranty was suppose to cover luggage, right? If your luggage comes down the baggage claim carousel, but is missing a wheel, it isn't covered under warranty. If the airlines mar the side with scratches, you are equally out of luck.Included with the suitcases are some simple white protective bags. (Don't throw them away!) Sadly, these aren't for use during travel. They are to prevent scratches and damage when your luggage is being stored at home. Too bad.This clearly is the best set of luggage I've owned, and it is beautiful. But I'm fearful of the eventual cosmetic damage to come. I wish I could ship these suitcases in a protective shell. Built for use? Mostly. Built for show? You better believe they wanted to make a set that would stand out.This is a beautiful piece of luggage with the features you'd expect in this price range. But it seems as vulnerable as it is beautiful. It is a shame that the manufacture does not choose to fully stand behind their product. I got to knock a star off of the review. This luggage has me worried.

My Second Purchase!!

Love this Samsonite Winfield Luggage!! I purchased this set months ago when it was in the Amazon Gold Box as a present for my Daughter. She hadn't used them as yet when I had to travel every week for my job. I have been using them for the past 2 months and love them!! They are durable, roomy and so easy with the four spinner wheels! I was so happy to see that they were in the Amazon Gold Box again today so I could buy my Daughter a replacement set for ones I am now using! Thank you Amazon!

Beautiful before using

This luggage looked like a paint job on a Porsche when we received it... really beautiful (and I would note that the blueberry color is much darker and more attractive that the photos in my opinion). We actually had 2 people comment/inquire about it in our short time at the airport before check-in.Aside from appearance, the capacity (especially when using the expansion) was impressive. This was our first hard side luggage and there is a more "give" that I anticipated when trying to close an overstuffed packing job. The durability looks like it will be good and really love the four spinner wheels... our 3 year old was able to help and pushed them along with little effort.Since these are constructed with two hard-shell halves with a flexible material in-between, the only awkward thing to me was breaking my habit of putting a suitcase next to the wall and flipping up the top to lean against the wall. Maybe it would be okay, but felt that it would stress the fabric "hinge" too much... so ended up opening it up completely flat on the floor. And the only other con was that after one use, the beautiful exterior finish was really beat up after going through airport luggage handling. Probably not a whole lot worse that any other luggage, but was sad like seeing a beautiful car getting a key job :)Overall, the best luggage I've ever owned... highly recommended.
